Experience the Wildlife at Night on our Australian Safari
Offered by Quokka Adventure Tours
About This Experience
This tranquil conservation reserve, the Dryandra Woodlands, provides a safe haven for some of our most unique Australian animals, including the endangered numbat and the ever-so-cute bilby. This Barna Mia nocturnal wildlife experience is truly a unique nocturnal adventure! After getting picked up in Perth City, enjoy a scenic drive from Perth through native forest and the south west wheatbelt region. Once we arrive at the woodlands your guide will take you for a walk through the forest looking for numbats, echidnas and other creatures. Upon arrival at our secluded picnic spot for dinner, you can enjoy a glass of wine while you hang out with a field full of inquisitive kangaroos. There are many species of birds here and there is a very good chance of spotting an echidna in the forest. Then it’s time for the highlight of the tour—a guided night tour into the serene wildlife sanctuary of Barna Mia, where Western Australia’s endangered native animals find refuge. Finish the evening with a short stop for some stargazing by a farmers field. The Dryandra Outback has some of the darkest skies in Australia. See the milky way in season, spot for satellites and shooting stars. You will also have time to take some photos of the night sky with your smartphone or camera. Please Note: the price of the tour does not include the entrance fee to the wildlife sanctuary. You need to pay this when we arrive at the sanctuary. Pricing is as follows; Adults: $25 Concession: $19 Children: $14 Family: $60 (2 adults 2 children)
Gavin Parker
Born in Perth to a well known local golfing family, I spent much of my childhood caddying and playing golf at the Nedlands Golf Club, one of Perth’s private golf courses. As a junior, I represented Western Australia in golf for two years, captaining the side in my second year. While representing WA, I was undefeated for those two years in national competition, was selected in the Australian junior team and won a national championship.
